Jacob Joseph Named SSAC Male Scholar Athlete of the Year
WEST POINT, Ga. - Point University golfer Jacob Joseph added another honor to his senior season Monday after being named the Southern States Athletic Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Year. Joseph, a financial management major, posted a 3.65 GPA to round out his senior year.
The award adds to a growing list of accolades for Jacob this spring. He was included on the NAIA Men's Golf Second Team All-America list and earned recognition on the NAIA Ping All-South Region Team.
Joseph also captured the SSAC individual championship in April, securing an individual berth to the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship in Silvis, Illinois. He shot seven-under par in the final round of the conference tournament to force a playoff before winning on a sudden-death hole. The round is tied for the second-best score in SSAC Championship history.
Point later received an at-large bid to the national championship while ranked 18th in the country. The Skyhawks finished among the leaders in several statistical categories in Silvis, including sixth in par-3 scoring and tied for eighth in par-4 scoring.
