Skyhawks Go Empty-Handed Against ABAC

WEST POINT, Ga. – The Point University Skyhawks' final week of the regular season began on a sour note Thursday afternoon, losing 5-1 and 3-0 to the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Fillies at West Point Park.

Game One (5-1 L):

Both teams showed a powerful offensive presence in the first game with ABAC outhitting the Skyhawks 12-7. The first two innings of play went scoreless before Taylor Gajdik's RBI single scored Chelsey Hogsed in the bottom of the third to make it 1-0.

Point went on to strand five baserunners through the remainder of the game. The Fillies' clean fielding was paired with an Ansleigh Darby RBI double that tied the game in the fourth. It was tied up softball entering the seventh inning, a frame where ABAC churned out four runs on four hits. RBIs were credited to Hannah Capps (reached on error), Ridleigh Rowell (2-RBI double) and Ashley Archibald (single).

Gajdik reached on a fielder's choice in the home half, but that was the extent of Point's last fight at the plate as Fillies pitcher Tess Rollins capped off a complete game. Despite the Skyhawks being unable to drive multiple runners across the plate, they compiled seven hits off Rollins.

Kendall Holbrook was the losing pitcher with ABAC turning in four runs on five hits during her trip to the circle. Gajdik started the game in the pitching position, going the opening five innings. No Fillies struck out in game one.

Game Two (3-0 L)

Point eclipsed their game one hit total with eight in the rematch, but no runs came across against Lindsey Paul, another ABAC pitcher who tossed a complete game. She struck out seven Skyhawks and was closely contested by Point starter Alyssa Burrows, who struck out two and allowed three runs on six hits.

The bright side for Point was three batters securing multi-hit games between Alexa McCoy, Avery Lee and Caroline Bagwell. Each of ABAC's three runs happened in the top of the fourth. Ansleigh Darby connected for a sacrifice fly before Hannah Capps and Ava Roland picked up RBI singles.

The 2026 Skyhawks team will give it one last ride on the field tomorrow for their senior day against the Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons. The doubleheader begins at 2:00pm at West Point Park.
