Bio

Christina Ezell enters her first season as the Assistant Coach at Point University.

Softball Career 
Ezell attended East Coweta High School in Sharpsburg, GA. Ezell was the 2008 GHSA 5AAAAA Player of the Year, as well as Player of the Year in her region. She was an All-State pick in 2007 and 2008 seasons, while gathering All-Region honors for three straight years from 2006-2008.
 
Ezell had a stellar collegiate pitching career from 2009-2011 at Georgia Perimeter College. 
 
As a freshmen, Ezell led the nation with 334 strikeouts, while also earning All-American honors, First Team All-Region accolades and MVP and All-Tournament honors regional tournament.
 
She was 23-6 with a 0.95 ERA and 334 strikeouts in 177 innings for Georgia Perimeter. 
 
Her sophomore year was basically a repeat as Ezell was 21-8 with a 0.79 ERA and 328 strikeouts in 212 innings. 
 
Her strikeouts per inning ranked third in the country. Striking out 662 in two seasons at Georgia Perimeter and was picked Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year as she swept conference awards once again. 
 
She finished her college career at Shorter University where she led the Hawks to back-to-back Gulf South Conference regular season titles. 
 
In 2013, Ezell's Gulf South Conference pitching numbers ranked first in strikeouts with 219 on the season and ranked first with an opposing batting average of .208. 
 
In 2014, she led the GSC in ERA with a miniscule 1.84 and had a conference best 22 wins and 250 strikeouts.
 
Coaching Experience 
Ezell began her coaching career as the Graduate Assistant at Shorter University. Ezell was in charge of the pitching staff to the GSC Conference Championship, NCAA Regional and Super Regional Championships and a trip to the NCAA DII World Series. Ezell's led pitching staff was the only staff that placed three pitchers in the top 10 conference in terms of ERA. 
 
Ezell's next stop would be the University of West Georgia as the Assistant Softball Coach from 2016-2020. There her primary duties were with the pitching staff but included running operations of the entire program. While there she improved the pitching staff's ERA from 4.68 to 3.18. 
 
From 2020-2023 Ezell began coaching at Cleburne County High School. During her time at CCHS she helped the Tigers to a 29-12 record, area championship, regional championship, and state appearance. Ezell focused on player development and helping players get to the next level. 
 
Personal 
Coach Ezell has her B.S. And M.S. Degree in Business Administration. Ezell is married to Christopher Downer and they have 5 kids together: Nevaeh (12 years), Kya (6 yeas), Amelia (6 years), Augustus (3 years), and Christopher (3 years)
